Superhero Truck Race
- Controls -
Controls seem very weak at the beginning. Even the choosing of vehicle and hero is not solved to well. It happened to me that several times I chose Batman and ended up with Ben 10, but there's nothing you can do about it. As far as I can see there are some symbols glowing on the main screen and they look very much like Ben Ten Ultimate Alien symbols. So everything tells me that this is one of those redone games. However, now we have Batman Truck here and voila - this game found its place in our collection too. Now let's see what is it all about...
Perhaps it is not necessary to emphasize, but controls are more or less standard: up arrow key to go forward, down arrow key to go backward, brake using 'Z', nitro is 'N' and spacebar is to jump. The one thing that caught me by surprise is that brakes stop the truck in its tracks.
- Extremely good shock absorbers -
Batman truck didn't even go forward 5 meters (about 1 cm in the game) and it had already picked up a huge clock with green hands saying 'time extended!'. Well, if nothing else we are not in any hurry, we have plenty of time. One thing I always try to do when testing these kind of games is to flip the truck - on purpose. However, that is not easy in this one. This truck has extremely good shock absorbers and flies over some serious gaps and holes. Only when at serious speed, which is accomplished by constant pressing of the 'up' arrow key, and then if you suddenly press 'lean left' left arrow key, with some luck you could flip the truck on its roof which would be followed with loads of smoke. There is no way to flip the truck back on the track from that position. Luckily, the game detects 'stall' and automatically restarts the level and you are back at the beginning.

- Coins, bonuses & nitro -
My next step is the one developer had probably initially imagined - to drive as further as possible and get to the finish line as fast as I can, and check out everything what is waiting for me on ten road ahead. And there are loads of stuff there. There are coins to collect, various bonuses, jumping over hills, driving over elastic bridges, I even think I saw a butterfly fly by. The game really doesn't make much sense, but the drive is interesting enough. Vehicle mechanics and animations are very well done for obviously low budget flash game. Point in firing up nitro is to speed up and make up for lost time because the overall drive time is limited on 1 min 15 sec. Of course nitro works only for a few seconds and it takes time to 'recharge'. Also you should know that nitro is working only while the truck has contact to the surface. If the time runs out, the game doesn't take you back at the beginning, yet 'only' takes one out of three lives you have at your disposal. If you play even half seriously you shouldn't have any problems to finish any level. You will get high level score and time bonus which you of course have no idea what to do with. You even get points for air stunts.
- 10,15 minutes tops -
Good news is that levels are not identical and that each one brings new obstacles (for example water tanks) and even more butterflies. However, around level number 3,4 besides the fact that hills become steeper, all elements we saw in the game so far start to repeat and that is where the player starts to get bored and loses interest. So, you can expect maximum 10 - 15 minutes of fun from this game, except is you don't plan on trying to drive as each hero individually. The biggest minus is the big flying saucer like ad which is placed in the right corner and covers almost half of the screen.
