Batman Forgotten City
Batman's flyover maneuver

This should have been the last game for 2014, but since we already have a pretty crowded situation there, I decided to use it for the great opening of www.batmangamesonly.com's new section 'Batman Online Games for 2015'. The game leaves impression of semi-finished but actually quite well-designed project. The first thing that caught my eye is the mechanics - the way Batman moves when in idle and the way he jumps over the rooftops. When you see him doing that big jump with the cape spread out like wings, you don't forget that. I know I've seen that move before, So I dug a little bit, and I finally came up with "Batman Sin City". In that game, Batman runs down the Gotham streets, fighting crime, and when he approaches an obstacle, the player must engage that 'flyover maneuver', by pressing down the 's' key while moving, which produces exactly the same effect you see in this game. On top of everything, in both games we are "In the city": in the first case, the city's been made out 'of sin', and in the latter one it became 'Forgotten'. Well, hardly to be just an amazing coincidence. To see what I've meant go and check out yourself in "Batman Sin City" or pay attention to the screenshot given above.
Forgotten City stages
First, don't worry about the gray patches in the background. As a matter of fact, a whole areas have been left out, so there's nothing wrong with your computer, it's the game. As I said, because of that, the game does feel a little bit unfinished, but if you keep focusing on gameplay, in time you will learn to ignore that, and you might even start liking it the way it is (as I did).
Stage 1

To escape through the exit door, you must first reach the rightmost area of the screen where the super computer is located. The idea is to run using arrow keys and jump over the artificial cliffs by engaging the aforementioned flyover maneuver, by double tapping the 'up' arrow key. Once you get to the computer, do nothing, just stand still to get it hacked to 100%. Well, that was kind of expected from Batman, being a science geek. Once you hack the computer, run back and get through the door to enter the level 2. As easy as pie.
Stage 2

On stage 2, your task is to break through to the alarm central box, cut it off from the system and enable access to new locations. You need to make sure to pass undetected by security guards. The only way to stay off the radar and avoid tripping off the security breach code is to make pauses in shadows. The flying ships cannot see you while in shadows. Same as on stage 1, you must return to the starting point to complete the mission.
Stage 3

Stage 3 introduces so called 'barriers' - laser beamed protected passage which can be shut off by touching buttons of the same color. First you must pass by the red barrier, enable 'remote access' and than go back, through the green barrier, to the exit door.
Stage 4

There are high intensity beams which destroy all organic materials and Batman should stay away or he will get killed instantly! It's likely that some of them are broken so you can sneak by if you follow their flickering pattern.
Stage 5
On Stage 5 you meet even more challenges. In order to reach higher areas, Batman will have to use blocks and move them around. I know what you're thinking at this point. These levels are way to short and way to easy for a superhero of Batman's caliber, but think twice. From stage 6 on, things start to mix and combine. Batman is confronting deadly rays, big red-hot electric balls, barriers and security guards all at once. Everything so far was just a light warm up for a challenge our caped crusader is about to face in upcoming rounds.
