Spiderman Running Challenge
How to play?
On the left side of the screen there are buttons that can be used to crawl and jump over obstacles. Some obstacles on higher levels are so high that Spiderman must use his long jumps with the help of the net. The screen is constantly moving from right to left and idea is that the player should press the button at just the right moment. If the button is pressed too soon, Spiderman will return into the starting position too soon and he will hit the obstacle. If you, however do it too late, impact is also inevitable. Each mistake costs you one life and you go back to the beginning. A good thing in this game is that once you have 'solved' one level, it remains open all the time, and unless you wish it, you never have to play that one again. The game requires high level of concentration, which of course decreases in time. Due to its simplicity, repetitiveness and minimal controls the game tends to become boring very fast, because same things happen over and over again...
The results
The game is made in such manner that you have only one life per level. That means that levels are practically independent and that you have an option to enter your score on mochi scoreboard after each level. This doesn't seam like completely uninteresting option, if we take into an account that player is just jumping over obstacles all the time and trying to stay alive, while collecting Spiderman tokens becomes secondary and player doesn't even pay any attention to them. We can say that tokens serve another purpose, that they are like a distraction on Spiderman's way because they are always placed very close to obstacles.
Controls
- Z - crawl
- C - jump
- X - small spider jump
- V - big spider jump
- spacebar - restart level
- M - back to main menu
Bugs & Problems
- 'P' key doesn't work if you want to pause the game but you have to use the mouse to click on a special button which is rather amiss. If you wish to continue the game, that button doesn't work but you can only use the 'P' key. The main mistake is that even after you have pressed the 'P' key the message about pause still stays written across the screen.
- Side scroller games are overall very unpopular because the screen is always moving and that can be very tiring for the eyes.
