Batman Video Game - Nintendo 1989
Back in the 80s and during the 90s there was a war going on between two major console gaming platforms: Sega vs Nintendo. While the majority of retro games we used play were made for Sega system, this Batman game has been also ported on NES platform, which basically does not make much of a difference to a present day player.
Just like in any other Batman game of that time, here too you can expect several things before you actually press the 'push' button on the emulator screen. First, terrible 8-bit low resolution graphics. Second, the animations are based on more less static sprites moving to either horizontal or vertical direction. The bad guy approaching is barely recognizable and you as a Batman usually have only one out of two options: to jump over or put a bullet to his head.
Speaking of bullets, the Batman can actually, as he should, shoot out batarangs. But first, he must pick them up from the ground. In the lack of batarangs, a rocket launcher might come in handy, and if you spend all the ammo, than good old-fashioned fist fight will get you out of the situation.

Controls on your keyboard are mapping the console pad so don't expect them to be that much of a user friendly. Z key is for jump, X is to shoot, space bar will make a pause so you can grab a cup of coffee from the kitchen and enter is a 'push' button which starts the game, make the selection of menu options or shifts between the available fighting options (fists, grenades or throwing boomerang - batarangs).
The author of the game is SunSoft , japanese game developer from the 80s. It is based on the 1989 Batman movie but nothing more than that. It does not follow the exact storyline nor the bad guys have anything to do in common with the Joker helpers from the movie. Still it's a good platformer and more than anything else - a respectful part of Batman history.
